Near Eastern Studies
In addition to the common requirements for a regional concentration, students who wish to concentrate in Near Eastern Studies are required to spend at least one semester at a Washington College abroad program in Morocco, Turkey, or through the SUNY Consortium program in Israel. The Near Eastern Studies language requirement may be fulfilled at Washington College by studying Arabic or French. Students also may fulfill this requirement by substituting another language appropriate to the region, for example Hebrew in Israel, to be pursued during the study abroad period. In addition, students are required to take two courses from List A below and three courses on the Near East at an approved Washington College abroad program.
